When to Visit

The best time to visit North Gujarat is during the winter season, i.e. between October and February. Since it is a dry region and experiences high temperatures and humidity; visiting the state in the monsoons (July to September) may also be a good idea.

It is an important place of pilgrimage for the followers of Jainism whereas Becharaji or Bahucharaji is a temple town in Mehsana district. The temple of Hindu goddess Bahuchara Mata in the town is major pilgrimage centre.
  • Later we visit Modhera famous for Sun Temple. Set along the backdrop of River Pushpavati, surrounded by a terra-formed garden of flowering trees and songs of birds, rests the famed Sun temple of Modhera.
  • The exclusively carved temple complex and the magnificently sculpted kund are jewels in the art of masonry of the Solanki period apparently which was also known as the Golden Age of Gujarat.

  • After Breakfast start your day with a visit to Rani Ki Vav (Queen’s stepwell), It is located on the banks of Saraswati river. Then leave for Siddpur, named after famous king Siddhraj Jaisinh. This town was capital of Gujarat during the rule of Solanki Kings. The town has its history dating back to the ‘Puranas’ where the town has been mentioned as Shristhal. Parshurama is supposed to have performed the last rituals after his mother’s death here. Thus, Siddhpur has also acquired the title of ‘Kashi of the West’.
  • Have you ever been mesmerized by those images of the colorful houses that Copenhagen Tourism keeps flashing to attract tourists? Well, then you would be surprised that India has its own set of such houses with a little pastel shade.
  • Town is also famous for chimerical mansions which give glimps of Victorian architechture, the wooden art work, Adroit Monograms, The Grand Mansion with 365 Windows, Rudra Mahalaya, A Poetry in Ruins.

She is often referred to as Arasuri Amba, named for the location of the temple in the Arasur hills, near the source of the Saraswati river at the south-western end of the Aravali mountain range.
  • Be sure to look across the temple (i.e. with your back facing the goddess) at the other temple on the Gabbar, considered the original abode of the goddess. At a short distance from the Ambaji temple is a large rectangular kund, with steps on all its four sides, called Mansarovar.
